What the sources say
Called by name to settle his affairs and move to South Weber with John Parson (Revelation No. 46, Weber, February 12, 1861; Spirit Prevails, pp. 60–61). In the Utah War call-up of 1857 he and Parson served as privates in the same platoon of a Weber District militia company mustered at Ogden, he from October 20 and Parson from November 9 (Utah Territorial Militia Records, series 2210, Utah State Archives), and in July 1860 they were next-door neighbors near Ogden, both tanners (1860 U.S. census, Weber County, p. 155). The Morrisites' bugler: he kept sounding the bugle under fire as the fort surrendered on June 15, 1862 (Spirit Prevails, p. 7; Anderson, p. 137). He moved from Utah to Omaha in 1864 and to Wisner, Nebraska, in 1867, and joined the RLDS Church in 1870 (Black, Early Members of the Reorganized Church, vol. 2); a descendant's family tradition of a Farley who moved to Nebraska and joined the RLDS Church fits him (see note 9 on the roll). On February 11, 1861, he was among the South Weber followers of Morris cut off from the LDS Church on the motion of the apostle John Taylor, seconded by Wilford Woodruff (Woodruff, journal, February 11, 1861, as “Robert Farley”).
